What you gonna do?

I was randomly surfing the channels on my television last night. Nothing was on.
VH1 was unclear ( No..My life is not Jhingaalala ! No DTH)..Absurd Movies.... and Channel V and MTV have been sold to bollywood crap.
I suddenly came to channel with a preacher on it. I just thought to listen to him for few seconds. But what he was saying had me totally gripped. Here is what he said...

"A man when defeated, and torn by this world ,by people or his own mind goes for either of these three things...
1.He tries to change himself.
2.He tries to forget himself with drugs and Drinks.
3.He ends his life.
The entire history of mankind says it. There have been great men who have ended their lives..who have drowned themselves in dark world of drugs...."

Tishhhhhhhhh......

The channel goes blank ( My Cable guy...Thank you so much..I need to make my life Jhingalala...Mr.Ratan Tata I am coming for your product)..

But still this was one Powerful, Deep and True thing he said. Worth pondering upon for sometime!
I did.
You may want to do too.
Say what?

Hi,Standbymind-tks for the visit to my blog and laughing.:)..I had some good laughs, too, reading this post...you used the DTH ad quite well-Jhingalala for that...and,whew that was a deep thought you heard..frankly,I tend to do the first one usually-i.e. try to change myself,if something's not working out...drugs n drinks are just escape routes, with no light at the end of the tunnel,I feel.

Hi Aman!
BABA Ji's are rather "GREAT" ppl - be careful about what they say.. :-)

"Defeated and torn by the world" is a pretty strong statement.
First thing to check is whether the situation is really that bad!
In most cases its not...

3. Not advisable at all..
2. Doesnt make sense, cos as soon as "senses" return, its again 1,2or3!! One can keep choosing 2 but the same decision point keeps coming back - it feels like an escape but there is no escape!
1. Change? No, if the "thing" you are chasing is "DEMANDING" a change, which you are not comfortable with.. and yes if it comes naturally - then of course its not much of a "change" - just a "step"..
Actually, if such a cross road comes, then one must analyse if what they are chasing, is their own dream OR a dream force-fed to them, OR just being one of the herd... OR the thing you are chasing may not be meant for you and your rainbow is elsewhere.. waiting for you!

and you are right - being oneself is tough.. but its always better in the long run..

and BTW, some neat graphics on the sidebar! and great style of writing too!

Jhingaalala!!

Firstly, awesome new template! Was wondering what had happened to ur blog earlier! :))

And yeah, I guess it is worth pondering about... I usually dont like these preacher kind of channels, and there are a lot of these here too... but yes sometimes they do make sense! Like this one... I'd like to think I'll go for option 1, but in reality I think I'll just try to escape - not through alcohol or drugs, but by actually running! hehehe

Man! That's scary at first look...but I guess, is true too. I see so much depression and restlessness around that is the root cause...

Umm....well wen things go really wrong...which they did for me once..umm...its d time wen u r outta ur mind(otherwise why would it be a bad phase)..and Its all about how much u can take it..!!!
Frankly speaking , during my really low phase...i could have easily done either of the 3..I thought about changing myself, but somethings are hard to change!I thought of taking drugs and I also thought of killing myself..You DO get those thoughts!!and if u dunt get those thoughts, it aint a bad phase!Best part is I fought against all those feelings and I am so proud about that.It was REALLY TOUGH.But today I have emerged as a stronger person and I am soooo proud of myself!!!!
*Main Bhagwan Hoon* !!!he he!!!

Moral of the story ...Shit Happens, But you need to fight it out and Thats called life!!

Y.M. said...

Just to add to that..Its easier to talk about it wen u r at ur best...Tough part is to implement it wen u r in a mess!!!

you know what, every time a crisis situation peeks, i consider option 3, and then dismiss it as worth a bigger crisis.. haha! (i hope th biggest crisis will be uselessness in old age!)

anyways, im not sure those are the only 3 options available.
in fact, it makes for a nice story. but in the biggest crisis Iv faced so far, I didnt even have the option to retreat. Like the message was real clear. fight, till the end. the reason. one, you started it. and two, well, no other option. and anyway, Im a little too proud for my own good!

anyway, it transpired that I came out quite fine, and with a lot of crazy memories to relive after 25 days at some sitting room!
(it was related to my job, after I quit, and all that)

but the lesson learnt is good enough. never give up. if you have the heart for an experience of a life time. i get the feeling that Life rewards perseverance. and most of the great achievements in the world were dubbed insane pursuits by others..

We all let other people influence us too much at times. We measure our abilities to do something by what others tell us. I wish, for once, we ask from ourselves and believe in ourselves before we talk to others.
I, for one, am determined to do that!
Nice post!

hmm,
my first reaction to that speech would have been, "well duh! you don't need to be Einstein to figure that out."

and I would probably choose option 4.
There is always option 4.
Beat the living hell out of everyone else. Murder loot pillage, they shall know endless torment. Go fight and kill everyone. FOR THE LICH KING!!!!!

to all the good ones who chose option 1. "yea right"

Whoa, hold up!

1.He tries to change himself-
Now this is something that merits some serious contemplation.

2.He tries to forget himself with drugs and Drinks-
What a strange coincidence(check out http://judeunleashed.blogspot.com/2007/09/364emusic-new-high-on-roads.html)

3.He ends his life- I wouldn really say that this is an option.

Peace,
Jude

yeah you change most of the time... sometime you rebel but ultimately you either change or simply don't care. many pretend.

DOOMED DOCTOR said...

hmmmm

A person becomes addicted to drinks and drugs,if he is having everything that he actually wants from his life, which is too hard to understand and find at an early age.

the commonest cause is he chooses it by default, its all about getting elevated levels of an endogenous chemical called endorphines, the levels of which take to to the levels of happiness, satisfaction, euphoria and ecstasy.(can read on google about it if u wish)

If u add any drug to the maximum u want in life,u will have the feeling say like a rockstar and then will the actual problem arise wen u go searching 4 a higher purpose that may range from higher creativity to spirituality and if u dont find it BINGO! look what happened to JIM Morrison and Cobain, while SIR MIck Jagger is doing the same thing till date.....The bottom line is coming in terms with ur subconscious brain that can shake everything deep within.

Just wrote what i felt, believing in what someone reads or gets to hear is never enough,u wont even have to believe in what YOu see or feel....yup the matrix theme...dont think who u r,know iwho u r....and its shocking indeed.

I think women usually try number 1. They are not that prone to drugs and drinks, and statistics say that men commit suicide more than women..
